About this vintage design furniture

An original rattan stool designed by architect Alan Fuchs and produced by ULUV in 1961 for an experimental housing project in Prague. The beauty of rattan is in the sculptural quality of the form, exemplified in this simple and “light” form that is supported by the steel frame of the four black legs. This experimental housing proposal was called Invalidovna and it was an ambitious project to house 4100 inhabitants in 1100 housing units. It was meant to showcase a new way of building - and living. All the flats were offered completely furnished with furniture designed by leading architects of that time. The main ambition for the interior and furniture design on this project was to break the mass production of the same type of furniture and offer more individual solutions for each buyer. The stool is in original vintage condition with minimal wear and tear.
