About this vintage design furniture
Archie Shine Sideboard Robert Heritage for Archie Shine ’Hanover’ sideboard, with four drawers, recessed brass trumpet-shaped handles inset into the Rosewood. Two doors are enclosing a storage area with an internal shelf. East London furniture maker Archie Shine produced in limited numbers some of Britain’s most desirable furniture during the mid 20th century. Archie Shine pioneered the Scandinavian style in Britain in the late 50s. The Scandinavian, and particularly the Danish look, was simple and elegant with long, low lines. It was made by high-quality craftsmen mainly using Teak, Afromosia and Rosewood. Shine is famous for its award-winning beautifully designed and crafted ’Hamilton’ sideboard designed by Robert Heritage, circa 1960 and sold through Heal’s department store in London and Guildford.
