About this vintage design furniture
These chairs are Pieter de Bruyne's first designs for V-Form Belgium. Even after more than 60 years, these chairs remain contemporary thanks to their timeless design. Pieter de Bruyne, together with Oswald Vermaercke, did influential work for V-Form Belgium, which was one of the leading modernist mass-market brands in Belgium in the 1950s until the 1980s. Because Belgians value quality, these chairs were built with great care. The chairs bear the De Bruyne signature with the slightly sloping frame at the front that follows the seat cushion perfectly. The backrest is also slightly inclined in the De Bruyne style. The sculpted vertical frame next to the backrest with the distinctive two brass knob design for mounting the backrest completes the overall look. The chairs were constructed of rosewood veneer with olive green vinyl leather. The upholstery was replaced at a later date, but otherwise they are completely original. The chairs are pictured in an old V-Form brochure, which certifies their authenticity. The chairs are in perfect condition. The rosewood frame has some general patina while the foam and upholstery are still in very good condition.
