About this vintage design furniture

A rare set of independent bookcases, made of folded sheet steel and lacquered in black and white. Designed in 1960 by Wim Rietveld to order and sold exclusively by the Amsterdam department store "De Bijenkorf". It is inspired by the wooden bookcase designed by his father Gerrit Rietveld in the 1930s, in the tradition of "De Stijl". The shelves offer storage space on both sides. They can be used as room dividers. Traces of wear and corrosion, as shown in the pictures.
