Set of 4 vintage B32 Cesca beech and chromed metal chairs by Marcel Breuer by Gavina, Bauhaus, 1963
About this vintage design furniture
Set of 4 original dining room chairs B32 "Cesca" produced by Gavina in 1963. They are all signed with the original mark on paper. The Cesca chairs were originally designed in 1928 by the French-Hungarian architect Marcel Breuer and are named after his daughter Francesca. Gavina was the official Italian producer of Marcel Breuer's furniture; in 1968 the company was bought by Knoll International, which took over the official licence. A modernist, architect and furniture designer, Marcel Breuer expanded the sculptural vocabulary he had developed in the Bauhaus carpentry shop into a personal architecture that made him one of the world's most popular architects at the height of 20th century design. These Bauhaus style armchairs are part of the most important list of the 20th century design furniture collection. Chrome-plated tubular frame. Seat and backrest made of Vienna wicker straw with black lacquered beechwood edge. Very good vintage condition. Chromed frame in perfect condition, without any kind of oxide or rust.
