About this vintage design furniture
Camaleonda in original cognac leather 1970s. Designed by Mario Bellini in 1971 and manufactured first by C&B Italia and later by B&B Italia. After featuring in the ‘Italy and The New Domestic Landscape’ exhibition in the MOMA Museum New York in 1972, the Camaleonda became a near-instant classic. Mario Bellini (1935-) is trained as an architect and became one of the leading designers in the postwar Italian style. At the beginning of his career, he worked together with Olivetti and Cassina which resulted in an early knowledge of synthetic resins and polyurethanes. His furniture is exciting, both in its use of the material as in the originality of his designs. Bellini did not believe in precise boundaries of design, instead, he designed for the relationship of man and environment. It is impossible to pigeon hole Bellini’s oeuvre, as his work is so complex and original. W 92 cm, D 96 cm, H 68 cm, SH 38 cm
