About this vintage design furniture
A sturdy and well-made bentwood dining table designed by Danish designer Magnus Olesen for Durup – model DK 7870 Olesen is a notable Danish designer and is one of the number of new Danish designers that came to the fore in the latter part of the 20th Century. The table is very reminiscent of Alvar Aalto’s table designs using a simple frame of bentwood legs matched to a rectangular table top. The inset in the table top is actually linoleum which is not as strange as you might think as many later Danish designs used this material for table tops as it’s very practical, durable and easy to maintain and clean. It also adds colour to the table and as it’s self-coloured light scratches and marks can normally be polished out. The table is in very good used condition and has some small marks in the top as you would expect and some small knocks and marks to the frames consistent with age and use. It could also be used as a desk or work table and comfortably seats 6.
