About this vintage design furniture

This table lamp, model 578, was designed by Oscar Torlasco, for LUMI, in Italy, during the 1950’s. The eyeball light is made of brass. The base is black painted with wrinkle paint. Brown painted brass. Some brass parts. Glass optic lens. Bakelite socket. Electricity: 1 bulb G18, 1 x 5 watt maximum, 12 volt. 125160220 volt adjustable transformer built-in. This is an extremely rare model, in very good vintage condittion. Oscar Torlasco designed many beautiful lamps. The most well known are the lamps he designed for Lumi. Torlasco designed for several Italian lighting manufacturers including Esperia, Stilux, Lampertiand Stilkronen. Most of his designs are from the 1950s and 60s. For many lamps, he uses optic lenses for spreadingdiffusing the light. It is his trademark. In 1959 Torlasco won the Italian design award, the “Compasso d’Oro” (Golden Compass) for his Genova 4053 street lighting.
