Pair of vintage wood and skai chairs by Wilhelm Von Bode for Steiner, 1950
About this vintage design furniture
This pair of vintage wooden and skai chairs was produced by Steiner (Paris) in the early 1950s and designed by the famous Dutch designer, Wilhelm Von Bode. On each chair, the base is worked in a solid bent piece of ash. The seats and backrests are covered with white skai. A brass ring, a single point of attachment, joins the base and backrest, to ensure flexibility and comfort in the sitting position. Both chairs bear the original manufacturer's label and have been fully restored (details below): ~ The surface of the wooden structure has been sanded and varnished. ~ The seats and backrests have been reupholstered,skai vinyl. ~ ~ The old horsehair has been replaced by a new moss (HR 42, high resistance.) ~ The old original springs have been replaced by new straps. to provide more comfort, but also to preserve and maintain the integrity and vintage look of the chairs. ~ A new upholstery fabric has been added underneath the chair seats ~ ~ The brass bushings and screws remain original and have not been replaced. These parts bear a manufacturer's attribution mark and are a well-known design that is well documented in furniture literature. ~ Style: Vintage, Art Deco, Design Classics. ~ Detailed condition: very good - These vintage items have no defects, but may show slight traces of use. ~ Patina and light wear in accordance with age and use. ~ Seat height: 46 cm ~ The price is for the pair.

About the designer
Wilhelm VON BODE
Wilhelm von Bode was a German art historian and collector, born on December 10, 1845 in Calvörde and died on March 1, 1929 in Berlin. He is best known for his work as director of the Berlin Museum (now the Bode Museum), where he organized several important exhibitions and acquired numerous works of art for the museum's collection.
