Nanna Ditzel

She worked with major brands including Georg Jensen, Fredericia, Kvist and Getama. She designed pieces of furniture but also jewelry and textile line. The “Bench for two” chair created in 1989 and the Hanging Egg chair (1959) are timeless pieces of furniture. Biography Nana Ditzel was born in 1929 in Denmark. She trained as a cabinetmarker, and then she studied at the School of Arts and Crafts and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After graduation, she founded in 1946 with her husband Jorgen Ditzel her own design studio. Her creations are directly affected by after-war: she tried new technical and shapes such as rubber. Then, she moved to London from 1968 to 1986 and founded with Kurt Heide the Interspace furniture chain. She won numerous awards including the gold medal at the International Furniture Design competition in Japan and the Royal Designer by the Royal Society of Arts in London. She exhibited many pieces in several cities such as New-York, London, Milan and Stockholm.
