About this vintage design furniture
Set of 2 vintage armchairs type 53 designed by Jaroslav Šmídek and manufactured by TON during the 1960s in Czech Republic. It features a bent beech frame and red upholstery. This piece represents the Brussels style, which formed after the enormous success of check design during the Expo 58 Brussels World’s Fair in 1958.

Jaroslav SMIDEK
Jaroslav Smidek is a Czech industrial designer born in 1988 in Prague. He studied at the University of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he graduated with a degree in industrial design in 2013.
