Albert Chubac was born in 1925 in Geneva.Figuration Libre: In 1947, Albert Chubac, a graduate of the Geneva School of Fine Arts, left for Algeria and produced his figurative paintings on paper. On his return, he met many artists, including Nicolas de Staël, who had a significant influence on his work. He continued his travels around the Mediterranean to Greece and Egypt, which determined his future work (color palette, pictorial references) strongly influenced by Egyptian antiquity. Abstraction and new realism: From 1952 he spent his winters in the south of France (Aspremont), his painting was then abstract, strongly influenced by the painters Nicolas de Staël and Hans Hartung.
