Vintage Triva armchair in off-white bouclé fabric by Bengt Ruda

A rare Bengt Ruda mid-century beech armchair reupholstered with an Italian off-white bouclé fabric from Designers Guild’s Lana collection. We bought this chair in July 2022 at an auction in Sundsvall, Sweden. We have a penchant for mid-century Swedish design, and this is a perfect example of it. This armchair was designed by Bengt Ruda (1918-1999) in 1955 for Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), Sweden’s permiere department store, and manufactured in NK’s factories in Nyköping until 1963. The chair’s fabric needed to be changed. We chose an off-white bouclé fabric to contrast sharply with the wood. The wood was stripped and polished with Danish oil to highlight its grain and natural beauty. The armchair was refurbished in the fall of 2022 in Kungsholmen, Stockholm. Reference : 272301
