Art Deco vintage living room set, 1930s

Stunning Art Deco lounge suite designed by the famed H and L Epstein of London created and designed in 1930 featuring two armchairs and one three-seater sofa. The Lounge suite is made from Maple and Rattan and the materiel is absolutely immaculate, having been historically reupholstered; the previous owners had the lounge suite fully reupholstered in 2007, they used H and L Epstein’s Furniture Catalogue from 1928 in which the suite is exhibited and had an exact replica of the original material made to bring the chairs back into their Golden Age glamour; the material is made from Silk and Cotton and is a Silver andstone shade. Their shape is deep set and incredibly comfortable encapsulating your body and they possess’ beautifully carved wooden features on the and at the base of the feet; it is truly the detail and attention to every aspect of design that makes this suite so exquisite. The designers Harry and Lou Epstein were arguably one of the most prolific designer duo of the Art Deco period, famed for their Cloud Chairs. They designed this collection after travelling to France and see the beautiful trend of chinoiserie and the delicate, beautiful style it had and how it could be married wonderfully to the western ideals of design during the Art Deco period. Once they came back from Paris they got straight to work and produced this beautiful collection along with other pieces. Hand L Epstein’s ability to seamlessly blend two design ideas and create something beautiful using their incredible knowledge, technique and access to stunning rare woods, such as Maple. This suite is an incredibly special and wonderful example of exquisite, sophisticated and cosmopolitan Art Deco design from an Iconic designer. The Rattan is in immaculate condition on the sofa and is perfectly weaved and rigid. The Rattan on the chaises are equally and good and perfectly weaved and rigid except for one area on the left of one, which is photographed.
