About this vintage design furniture
Ole Wanscher designed the OW149 Colonial Chair in 1959. Wanscher wished to create furniture with aswel classic element as it was a timeless design. This colonial chair is probably the most well known design of Wanscher and very recognizable these days. So he succeeded in his wish to design a piece of timeless furniture. As a minimalist, Wanscher had a preference for the slim and refined. Its strength lying in the carefully designed bracing. The design’s sophisticated, slightly curved armrests rise to a point before taking a turn downward – a trademark Wanscher feature. The front and back legs are made of roundwood timber, with the back legs curving gently outward for added stability and a more refined result. Fifteen years later, Wanscher completed the Colonial series with matching sofa, coffee table and footstool OW149F. This chair has been designed in the early 1960s and is still in production. This specific set of one fauteuil and one footstool are from 2005-2010 and in very good condition consistent with age and use .
