Roger Capron Vallauris vase with ears

Rare vase called "with ears" signed Roger Capron in Vallauris, in white earthenware with enamelled decoration of blue and black geometrical patterns. Circa 1955. CAPRON Roger (1922-2006) Professor in Applied Arts, Capron is interested at first in the drawing. He discovered ceramic work in Vallauris before Picasso, and created the Callis workshop with Robert Picault. He founded his own studio in 1952 and sold his collections, notably in the United States to the department store Saks Fifth Avenue. He received awards in numerous international exhibitions in Milan, Brussels, Cannes... From 1963 onwards, he gradually abandoned shaped pieces for decorative tiles used in architecture: wall panels, building lobbies, stores.
