About this vintage design furniture
Scandinavian style oval extendable vintage teak dining table by G Plan, circa 60's. Designed by Victor Wilkins, this dining table is part of the Fresco series. It is made of teak with an afromosia border, with butterfly extensions, which make the table go from a width of 163 cm to 209 cm when extended. It stands on elegant tapered legs. The piece is overall in very good condition, original and vintage, with some marks and signs of age and previous use, commensurate with the time, as well as a patina of time, on the top (see photos with 1 cent coin for perspective), legs and general structure (see photos.) This is a classic and iconic piece made by G Plan, which was acquired from its original sole owner. Although the sticker is no longer present, you can see the old mark where it once was, and is found on all G Plan dining tables: under the butterfly extension (see photos.) The stickers from this period were only glued on, compared to earlier editions, where the mark was embossed, so they are known to fall off or disappear, with use over time. Closed, this table seats 4-6 people (see photos.) When opened with the addition of the butterfly flap that opens and closes perfectly, the table comfortably seats 6-8 people (see photos.) It is solid and stable .
