About this vintage design furniture
Beautiful mid-century Murano "sommerso" catch-all or vide poche designed by Flavio Poli and produced by Seguso Vetri d’Arte (Murano, Italy) in 1970s. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. Thick and extremely decorative. Colours: red, blue and clear. Dimensions: length: 7.5 cm; width: 7.5 cm; diameter: 10.5 cm; height: 4 cm. Weight: 0.5 kg. Can be used as an ashtray or as a display piece on any table. Very good vintage condition, small traces of use with one tiny flea bite at the base (last picture).

Flavio POLI
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
