Vintage Eero Saarinen oval coffee table, Tulip by Knoll International circa 1970s

Vintage "tulip" oval coffee table, design eero saarinen for knoll international, circa 70.The top is made of "arabescato" marble, which rests on the iconic cast aluminum "tulip" base, covered with rilsan, where the embossed model number 150 "knoll international" are present (see photos).Due to the type of material used to cover the base, embossed mark, this table most likely dates back to the 70s and 80s, contemporary tables now have a "plate" underneath. Information is based on several discussions with authorized knoll dealers. The table is in good original vintage condition, with some light traces of use and a patina of time on the top, pedestal and base of the pedestal (see photos).there is a small crack (see photos next to the 1 cent coins for perspective, photos zoomed in and taken voluntarily against the light to really show the maximum of what can be seen.) this type of occurrence in marble, as noted by the marble maker, is what is generally called a natural part of the veining of marble. In order to distinguish between a crack and another type (breakage breach), the latter extends in the same direction as the vein and is barely perceptible to the touch, whereas a breakage breach would be perpendicular to the vein. To further validate this information, the table has been checked and mechanically polished with an industrial machine by professional marble workers, which would be absolutely impossible if it were a breach or break, the table could not withstand the pressure of the machine. The table comes from the original owner and with that in mind, this table has been in use for 40 to 50 years without any problems and the marble is still in good condition for its age. If there was any doubt about the table, it would not be for sale.
