About this vintage design furniture

The shape and colour of this table lamp are immediately recognisable as a classic of Czech design from the 1960s. It was designed by Stepan Tabera and produced by OPP Jihlava in Czechoslovakia. There were different versions and this one is known as Type 377. This lamp is a bold piece. The bulbous shape, composed of two layers of mouth-blown glass - a white layer on the inside and a red pillar layer on the outside - required a very high level of craftsmanship. An orange plastic rim forms the base of the lamp and blends brilliantly with the bright red. This piece is a true combination of space-age design and craftsmanship. It fully demonstrates the great skills and tradition of Czech glass lamp design while searching for new forms. The lamp is in perfect vintage condition. There are no cracks, chips or other damage to the glass. The cable shows minimal natural wear consistent with its age. All parts are original and work perfectly.
