About this vintage design furniture

Beautiful and iconic lounge chair by Ivan Matusik, designed and produced in the 1970-73 period. Made of foam block cut in two parts, burgundy velvet finish. Original velvet. Chrome plated dish legs. The chair is in original condition, with only minor discoloration and wear.Slovak architect Ivan Matusik's Kyjev Hotel was the most modern, largest and most luxurious hotel in Bratislava during the communist era. Built with the adjacent Prior department store between 1961 and 1973, it was closed in 2011 and will be demolished to make way for a new building. The 15-story skyscraper was clad in travertine panels and both its exterior and interior were characterized by high quality and refined craftsmanship. In terms of form, the building refers to icons of international style, such as the Lever Building in New York and especially Arne Jacobsen's SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. We have two of these chairs available.Additional information on dimensions:seat height 38cm
