About this vintage design furniture
E W Godwin Side Table Square mahogany side table or coffee table, partly ebonized, designed around 1880 as part of the E.W. Godwin aesthetic movement. This design was popular in the 19th century, and similar styles were therefore produced by various well-known British manufacturers. Edward William Godwin, born in 1833 in Bristol, was a progressive English architect-designer. Godwin began his career working in the highly polychrome style of the "Ruskinian Gothic" of mid-Victorian Britain, inspired by the Stones of Venice. Godwin provided drawings in the "Anglo-Japanese taste" of the aesthetic movement and the Whistler Circle in the 1870s. Godwin's influence can be seen in the arts and crafts movement. Dimensions (cm). 66 H x 41 W x 41 D Condition. Very good - With a few notes corresponding to age and use.
