About this vintage design furniture

Functionalisme meets comfort. This robust and a bit Brutalist set of lounge chairs were designed in the 1960s by Dutch cabinetmaker Ate van Apeldoorn. He founded his own production company in 1958 ’Houtwerk Hattem.’ The listed model, which he called ’stokkenstoel’ (stick chair), has an ingenious construction and a high degree of finishing. The production of these designs stopped after a few decades. The listed frames were made by van Hattem in a limited edition of 10 (year 2020). The chairs have the original measurements, and are made by the same cabinetmaker at van Hattem, that worked with Ate van Apeldoorn during the 1960s. The frame is executed in solid pine and ash. We have hand picked the high quality saddle leather that our upholsterer used to create the two slings for seating and back. The leather is treated with a special wax coating for the first spatters and use, as is the wood. Please note: For most international shipments, the piece(s) will be fully dismantled for shipment unless we will mention otherwise. We will provide a detailled assembly instruction.
