About this vintage design furniture
Gordon Russell Sideboard A Gordon Russell of Broadway double helix sideboard, model number 407, designed by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer for the Festival of Britain exhibition in 1951. The cabinet went into production in 1952 and was the best selling item for the couple. The sideboard is made in Mahogany with top and sides and back in veneered Sapele. The door fronts are made of veneered Bombay rosewood with brass ring handles and are recessed to show the white birch under, which make the iconic double helix design we all admire. The interior is spacious, and the baize lined cutlery drawer is typical of the period. The sideboard has signs of use and patina, including some sun bleaching to the top surface but is generally in good condition for it’s vintage. Circa 1950s, made in the UK. Dimensions (cm): 122 W x 84 H x 46 D Condition: The sideboard has signs of use and patina, including some sun bleaching to the top surface but is generally in good condition for it’s vintage.
