Le Corbusier is the nickname of Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris. Architect, urban planner by training but also decorator, painter, sculptor of Swiss nationality naturalized French. He is one of the most famous French architects to date, whose reputation is worldwide. He is one of the most worthy representatives of the modernist movement, alongside such famous architects as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Alvar Aalto and Theo van Doesburg. He met Robert Mallet-Stevens. Le Corbusier has also worked in urban planning and design. He initiated the concept of a "housing unit" in the 1920s. He also designed a series of curved tubular steel furniture, typical of their time, some of which were designed in partnership with Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret (his cousin).
