Secretaire or storage desk Vintage in Birch by Lars Fredrik Pettersson 1951

Scandinavian Modern Secretaire in Birch or shelving cabinet with a folding down desk. The item was made by Edsbyns Møbelfabrik in Sweden, stamped and dated on the back 1951. This elegant unit has a high varnished Birch wooden construction, diagonally shaped towards the bottom, and in very good vintage condition. Only very little patina as shown on photos. The desk door folds down and shows a smaller storage unit with different compartments. The height of the desk top is 72 cm 28.3 inch. Edsbyn Möbelfabrik started in 1899 by craftsman Lars Fredrik Pettersson. His son Ivar Pettersson studied Henry Ford’s production line and was probably first in Sweden to implement professional processes, templates, fixing plates and workstations for industrialised furniture manufacture. The company still exists today.
