Gae AULENTI

One of the leading figures in the world of design, she was behind the redesign of the Musée d'Orsay and the Centre Pompidou. Her creations combine modernity and tradition, and have stood the test of time with impressive success. His legendary Pipistrello lamp (1965), for example, continues to captivate design aficionados. Biography Gae Aulenti was born in Italy in 1927. After studying at Milan Polytechnic, she graduated in architecture in 1954. From then on, she worked as a graphic designer and editor for the magazine Casabella-continuità until 1965. At the same time, she designed various types of furniture, including the Pipistrello lamp. Passionate about her profession and keen to share her knowledge, she lectures at numerous universities around the world (Italy, Sweden, USA, etc.). She likes to multiply her projects, which is why she turned to the design of private and public spaces as early as 1976, the Palacio National in Barcelona being a case in point. In 1987, François Mitterrand decorated her with the Légion d'honneur. Gae Aulenti is one of the greatest designers of the 20th century.
