Rudolf Bernd GLATZEL

He studied at the University of Applied Arts in Breslau and went on to work as a designer for various companies, including Frankfurt-based furniture manufacturer Thonet.

In 1956, he founded his own industrial design studio in Darmstadt, where he worked on numerous projects for clients such as Braun, Junghans and Loewe.

Glatzel was known for his minimalist approach to design, characterized by the use of simple, functional forms. He was also one of the first designers to integrate electronics into everyday consumer products.

Throughout his career, Glatzel won numerous awards and distinctions, including the prestigious German Design Prize in 1961 and 1962.

Today, his work is considered an integral part of the post-war German industrial design movement, and is exhibited in museums and collections around the world.
