The lines and curves of his creations are pure, sober and particularly elegant. The furniture he creates is both modern and timeless, such as the variety of tables and storage units he has designed over the course of his career.
Biography
Bertoncini was born in Italy in 1939. He studied drawing and then worked with architect Vittorio Rossi. The two collaborated on building construction and furniture design projects. It was during this period that the designer conceived the Zattera bed. His work quickly gained recognition in the design world, thanks in particular to his collaboration with Joe Colombo. Some of his creations were exhibited at MoMa in New York in 1971 as part of the exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape". That same year, he won second prize in the Abet Print competition for his Gronda coat rack. He was subsequently commissioned by Aprilia to design the Tuaref Wind motorcycle, a model selected for the Compasso d'Oro. Bertoncini is one of Italy's leading designers.
