3-seater vintage sofa "Bubble" by Sacha Lakic for Roche Bobois, France

A magnificent black "Bubble" sofa from Roche Bobois. Created by Sacha Lakic, a designer with a passion for cutting-edge technology, Bubble expresses the balance between innovation, function and emotion. Inspired by natural and mineral forms and entirely handmade, its design required the development of specific stretch fabrics that perfectly embrace its round shapes. With its unique style, the Bubble sofa, in straight or rounded versions, is an iconic model in the Roche Bobois collection. In 1950, French businessman Jacques Roche opened a furniture store on rue de Lyon in central Paris, later joined by his two sons, Philippe and François. At the same time, in the same city, Patrick and Jean-Claude Chouchan opened their own furniture store on Boulevard Sébastopol, Au Beau Bois. The future partners didn't meet until 1960, at the annual Scandinavian Furniture Fair in Copenhagen. Deciding to strike out on their own, the Roche and Couchan families designed their first furniture collection together, introducing their brand and the Nordic aesthetic to the French market. The following year, a national advertising campaign was launched through Elle magazine, along with a new brand identity formed from the names of both parties: Roche Bobois: Today, Roche Bobois has over 250 stores in 50 different countries, with furniture collections including sofas, armchairs, cocktail tables, dining chairs, sideboards, beds, as well as accessories such as lighting, cushions and rugs. Over the decades, Roche Bobois has collaborated with many important contemporary designers such as Paul Michel, Ora Ito, Cédric Ragot, Sacha Lakic, Christophe Delcourt and Stephen Burks, as well as with renowned fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier (for its 50th anniversary), Sonia Rykiel and Missoni.
