Mid century teak writing desk by John Herbert for Younger, 1950-1960s
About this vintage design furniture
Vintage bureau in Teak, this was designed by John Herbert and made by Younger furniture around the 1950-60s. As with all Younger furniture, the quality is amazing. This is made from solid Teak throughout, which is unusual as most mid-century furniture is veneered. It comes with a locking key, and inside the writing area has a pigeon hole cabinet that can be slid across to either side. Condition report: the bureau is in very good condition but it may show slight traces of use. There is a very narrow gap that has opened on the top, in between where the two solid wood panels join together, this is also not very noticeable and is not loose, it’s just a natural movement that sometimes occurs in solid wood. There are two very small holes on each cross beans (hardly noticeable), there are a few small dents on the internal part of the drop-down. Everything has been tried to be reflected on the pictures. Width – 66 cm Depth – 45 cm Height – 128 cm Knee height – 71 cm
