Vintage black cowhide leather swivel armchair by Geoffrey Harcourt for Artifort, 1960s

A special swivel armchair made of black cowhide leather. Designed by top designer Geoffrey Harcourt for Artifort. A nice detail of this armchair is that the hanging armrests are made of leather. This ensures a comfortable and lazy seat. The chrome armrest holders and the chrome swivel base still look like new. The leather has been rejuvenated and is as supple as before. Of course there are signs of use, but that is what gives this armchair its vintage character. In 2020 it will be the 130th anniversary of Artifort. This world famous design brand that stands for design and comfort has become an indispensable part of a stylish interior. Initially, Artifort made classic furniture and made of wood. But in the 1960s, the brand made a switch to design. Much changed with the arrival of furniture designer Kho Liang Ie, who became Artifort’s aesthetic advisor. His vision and knowledge of the design profession were decisive for the successes in the following decades.
