Designed by Jindrich Halabala, a famous designer credited with introducing mass production of furniture in his native Czechoslovakia, and manufactured by UP Zavody, a well-known Czechoslovakian furniture manufacturer and retailer based in Brno. It has been restored and reupholstered by our professional renovation team in Czechoslovakia according to the original process. The chrome parts have been professionally cleaned and restored. The new upholstery is made of high quality leather, it is very easy to clean and keeps its colors very well, even in direct sunlight. These eloquent pieces will add visual performance and chic to any interior.Learn more about the designerJindřich Halabala was born on May 24, 1903 in Koryčany into the family of carpenter Štěpán Halabala, whose trade he learned in a family business between 1918 and 1920. He then entered the Czechoslovak State Vocational School of Wood Processing in Valašské Meziříčí, from which he graduated two years later. After school, he began practicing at United UP races, where he met their founder Jan Vaňek.In 1922, he also began studying architecture at the Prague School of Applied Arts, specializing in furniture and interiors with prof. Pavel Janák. He finished his studies in 1926. In the same year he created his first designs for furniture and carpets. In 1927 he was briefly employed in Bohumil Hübschmann's studio in Prague, and in 1928 he finally joined the United UP factory as manager of the Prague store in the Lucerna Palace.
