Vintage thermos by Ole Palsby for Alfi, 1980s

Presented here is the Kugel steel thermos from German brand Alfi, designed by Danish design legend Ole Palsby. The vessel is characterized by the designer’s typical, economical, yet modern and elegant form. The round body of the thermos along with the cap is made of polished stainless steel, and the glass alfiDur insert made of the highest quality plastic guarantees 12 hours of keeping temperature of hot and 24 hours of cold beverage. Ole Palsby’s main idea is to create a piece of equipment that has everything it needs, but nothing superfluous. This designer’s maxim comes directly from the Zen philosophy, which Ole Palsby has been fascinated by for years. When Alfi asked him to design a new thermos model, he asked himself: which geometric form guarantees the largest capacity with the smallest external surface As he later recalled, the answer came to him on its own: nature created the perfect form - the sphere. Scientific experiments left no doubt that this was the best choice and the "Kugel" or "Sphere" thermos became Alfi’s flagship product. However, the thermos presented here has gained a second life, among others thanks to the Scandinavian culture, from which the whole world draws inspiration in terms of interior design, cuisine and food. A thermos accompanies a leisurely breakfast, an afternoon coffee, an evening in an armchair with a good book - it is comfortable and... beautiful, becoming an attractive addition to the kitchen space arrangement. This particular model is quite rare in 1,5 L capacity. Preserved in original condition, with delicate scratches.
