About this vintage design furniture
A modernist library that would have been produced in the 1930s by UP Brno, in the former Czechoslovakia. This piece has a stunning rich walnut veneer and perfectly balanced proportions. The bookcase is divided into two mirrored sections, each with a single shelf and both protected by sliding glass doors. What makes this piece unusual compared to a "standard" bookcase is the fact that it is only 23.5 cm deep; a slim piece that allows it to fit into any interior. The bookcase is in excellent vintage condition. A recent restoration has revived the extremely rich colour throughout the piece, bringing out the beautiful patterns on all surfaces. The bookcase has been hand finished with Shellac and Nitro varnishes to achieve a high gloss finish.
