About this vintage design furniture
The table is just another example of Lilienthal's know-how. The brass table top was handcrafted by pouring liquid brass into a preformed casting mould. This created a relief, or 3d structure, in the top plate. Since brass solidifies differently due to local temperature differences, a distinct colour pattern was also created simultaneously. After the brass was completely solidified, the top was connected to a black metal sub-plate that was produced to provide a base for the top to attach the wooden foot. The wooden foot itself is made of a curved rosewood veneer attached to a black metal base. All in all, the table is a masterpiece in itself and is both light and strong due to its construction. With its rough appearance, it can be combined in just about any modern or modernist (mid-century) interior. The entire table is in very good condition, with only small traces of use visible on the brass top and the black metal plate. The wooden leg is in perfect general condition.
