About this vintage design furniture
Vintage leather armchair dating from the 70s. Beautiful patina of leather. Designer : Arne Jacobsen Brand: Fritz Hansen Colour: grey Material: leather, aluminium, polyurethane Dimensions : W 74cm x D 62cm x H 82cm Created in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen, the Swan chair was originally intended to furnish the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. An opportunity for Jacobsen to put his theories on integrated design into practice. The Swan chair was designed entirely with curved lines and no straight lines contrasting with the exclusively horizontal and vertical lines of the building. It was a total success. A success that has remained undiminished to this day. Revolutionary for its time, Arne Jacobsen chose to use innovative materials: a fibreglass-reinforced shell, aluminium for the foot, and cold-cured foam padding for the seat. A classic of Scandinavian design, the "Swan chair" is distinguished by its welcoming curves, which create a real cocoon.
