About this vintage design furniture
Large, fantastic, mid-century, vintage, ceramic vase with handle, made by the Jasba Keramik company (1926 - Present) for West Germany, circa 1960s. Known for using bright-colored glazes coupled with the "fat lava" glaze associated with other W. German companies during the same period, this one shares both of those attributes. ~ The body itself, is a slightly brownish-beige color combined with a type of thick glaze of a smokey-brown color, that gives the piece a "lava-like look." ~ At the center, there are three, smokey-brown lines that resemble a band going around the piece, with red and brown, geometric designs in between. This piece is in exceptional condition. There are no cracks or chips on the body, handle or mouth. 1 minuscule chip at the bottom (see photo.) It remains as solid and sturdy, as it is beautiful. Found at the bottom: ~ Labeled with country of origin: "W Germany" ~ Labeled with name of manufacturer: "Jasba" ~ Numbered: "1217 - 35" H: 38 cm W: 28 cm An incredible, collectible piece of decor that will compliment any given mid-century, rustic-contemporary or modernist atmosphere, whether used as a centerpiece on a dining room or coffee table, decor for a large shelf or credenza, an accent piece in an entry hallway, etc.
