Alain Richard is a great French designer from the 20th Century. He worked for major architectural projects and he designed high quality furniture.

Richard is known for his pursuit of perfection. Very soon, he developed an appreciation for sobriety of colors, shapes and materials. He designed several pieces manufactured during the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s: chairs, sideboards, coffee tables, lamps, desks etc.


Biography

Alain Rcihard was born in France in 1926. He developed a real interest in creation and he quickly showed great talent for furniture design: he left major of the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1949. Then, he worked with his famous teacher and French designer: René Gabriel. After that, in 1952, he founded with his wife Jacqueline Iribe his own workshop. His pieces of furniture were manufactured by famous companies: Groupe 4 Charron, Labrilleux, Meubles TV and Disderot. During his career, the French designer received prestigious prizes such as the Grand Prix during the Triennial of Milan and the René Gabriel prize in 1964.
