After graduating, he worked as a freelance designer for several years, before founding his own design studio, Ladefoged & Stougaard, in 2007. Since then, he has worked for numerous international companies and organizations, including Bang & Olufsen, Fritz Hansen, Louis Poulsen, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Venice Biennale.
S.J. Ladefoged is best known for his minimalist, functional approach to design, characterized by clean lines, simple forms and high-quality materials. His creations range from electronic products to furniture and fashion accessories, but all reflect his passion for simplicity and timeless beauty.
In addition to his work as a designer, S.J. Ladefoged is also Professor of Design at the Copenhagen School of Design, where he passes on his know-how and experience to the next generation of Danish designers.
