About this vintage design furniture
Modernist desk by French designer Robert Charroy, published by Mobilor in the mid-1950s (1955-1956).
This series of furniture was chosen to equip the Jean Zay university residence in Antony.
This residence was equipped with furniture designed by such designers as Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Marcel Gascoin...
This oak and laminate desk features harmonious, rounded lines.
The oak is of fine quality and has a pleasing grain.
The suspended pedestal opens to 2 drawers.
The top and pedestal feature subtle curves.
The drawers are beveled and the edges softened.
The space between the top and the pedestal offers interesting storage space.
The shape of the base, in black tubing, further enhances the desk's restless look.
The black tube is larger in diameter than the tubes frequently used at the time by Pierre Guariche, Pierre Paulin, Joseph André Motte, Alain Richard etc...
The desk is reminiscent of the Bauhaus style.
Restorations are visible on the outside.
