Grete Jalk

Jalk designed many pieces of furniture such as a wall system in 1961 and coffee table in 1962. She is also famous for a storage system for television, stereo and cassettes. The curves of her furniture are really comfortable and clear. Biography Grete Jalk was born in 1920 in Copenhagen. She studied from 1940 to 1943 at the School of Designer for women. She continued and finishes his studies at the Danish School of Design in 1946 after she went to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In 1953, she founded her own design studio. She won in 1963 the first prize of the competition organized by The Daily Mirror thanks to the two armchairs she designed. In parallel of her designer career, Jalk published a magazin dedicated to interior design “Mobilia”, with Gunnar Bratvold from 1956 to 1974. It is possible to find these articles in a book composed of four volumes. This publication is renowned to be a real complete source of information.
