Ico Parisi

Parisi designed several furniture such as the “856” low seat (1955), the “735” table (1957) and the “Iride” standard lamp (1970). He also worked with his wife Luisa on different architectural projects, furniture creation, jewels and glassware. Biography Domenico Parisi was born in Italy in 1916. During the first half of the 1930s, Parisi studied building construction. In 1936, he joined the studio of the rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni. He participated in the creation of two architectural groups Alta Quota and Gruppo Como. As a multifaceted man, he also worked as a film director at the end of 1930s. In 1945, Parisi organised the 1st exhibition dedicated to contemporary furniture in Como. Two years later, he married Luisa Aiana, a former student of Gio Ponti. The following year, they founded the La Ruota studio. Several designers and artists worked together in this unique place. Ico Parisi is a designer recognised by his peers : he was a member of the Art Club of Milan, but also of the Associazone per il Disegno Industriale.
