Poul HENNINGSEN

Throughout his career, the designer has created over a hundred lamps for Louis Poulsen. His models are renowned for their perfect approach to light. Henningsen sought to play on the effect of reflectors and lamellae to ensure perfect diffusion of light without disturbing the eye. The PH series, launched in 1926, and the "Artichoke" lamp (1958) are his best-known creations. Biography Poul Henningsen was born in Denmark in 1894. He studied architecture at the Polytechnic from 1915 to 1917. In 1920, the designer began freelancing as an architect, but also worked as a journalist, writing numerous articles for various newspapers. He went on to work for the famous Danish publisher Louis Poulsen, achieving rapid international success with his PH lamps, first exhibited in 1925 at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. Henningsen designed timeless lamps whose aestheticism still appeals to vintage design aficionados. The technique he developed makes him one of the greatest Scandinavian designers of the 20th century.
