Charles DUDOUYT

Dudouyt began his career as a cabinetmaker and worked for major furniture publishers, such as Dominique, and for private clients. He quickly developed a distinctive style that combined traditional elements with modern motifs, inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau.

His furniture was often solid wood, with geometric carvings and inlays of exotic woods, ivory or bone, creating rich texture and visual contrast. Colors were restrained, ranging from light to dark brown, and forms were simple and elegant.

Although Dudouyt enjoyed great success in the 1920s and 1930s, he was largely forgotten after his death in 1947. In recent decades, however, his work has been rediscovered and appreciated for its quality, elegant aesthetic and important role in the development of Art Deco furniture. Today, Dudouyt's furniture pieces are sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide.
