Paolo Buffa is an Italian designer and architect. He is one of the most prolific designers from the 20th Century. His work is the reflection of modern and functional style.
The curves and the forms of the furniture thought by Buffa are modern but also traditional. He was focused on the comfort but also on the elegance, consequently the quality of his creations is remarkable. Throughout his career, he designed a variety of pieces of furniture including the “Double Dresser” (1960) and the Hotel Bristol armchair (1953). Biography Paolo Buffa was born in 1903 in Italy. He is graduated of the Polytechnic Institute of Milan. After his studies, he worked for Gio Ponti. Then he founded in 1928 his own architectural firm with A.Cassi Rimelli. They built lots of properties, however Buffa always preferred furniture design. The refinement and the quality of these pieces of furniture are remarkable. The bourgeoisie appreciated that because of their taste for functionalism and modernism. In 1947, Buffa participated with others designers to the exhibition “The modern style of Furnishing”. In 1952, the king of Egypt asked him to design his yacht furnishing. Even if the notoriety of Paolo Buffa is not so high, the fact remains that he is a great designer from the 20th Century.
