About this vintage design furniture
Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard: Portex easy chair with frame in beech and with seat and back in veneered teak. The Portex (anagram for export) furniture series are designed in 1944. Hind legs are steam bended, the front legs are turned. One of the first Danish Modern design icons. Stamped.

About the designer
Peter HVIDT & Orla MOLGAARD NIELSEN
Hvidt & Mølgaard Nielsen is a mid-20th-century Danish design duo consisting of Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen. Peter Hvidt was born in Copenhagen in 1916 and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before working as a designer for various companies. Orla Mølgaard Nielsen was born in Copenhagen in 1907 and also studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, before working as an architect and designer.
