Mogens HANSEN

Hansen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and began his career working for the renowned architect Vilhelm Lauritzen. In 1927, he opened his own architectural practice in Copenhagen, where he designed numerous buildings, including the famous Danish restaurant Radiohuskantinen.

Over the years, Hansen also became interested in furniture design, creating pieces for his architectural projects as well as stand-alone furniture. In 1935, he designed the ML33 chair, which has become an iconic piece of Danish design. This chair is characterized by its solid wood frame and leather seat and back.

Hansen continued to design furniture throughout his career, concentrating on simple, functional designs. He also worked closely with his brother, Flemming Lassen, who was also a renowned architect and designer.

Mogens Lassen Hansen is considered one of the most important designers of the Danish modern period, having made a significant contribution to defining the aesthetics of Scandinavian design. His designs have been widely exhibited and have won numerous awards, including the gold medal at the 1937 Paris Universal Exhibition.
