Gianfranco FRATTINI

Over the course of his career, he designed numerous pieces of furniture, some of which still enjoy great success today. The Boalum lamp he created with Livio Castiglioni in 1969 is certainly one of his most famous pieces. He is also renowned for his mastery of wood. Biography Gianfranco Frattini was born in Italy in 1926. He studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, graduating in 1953. He met Gio Ponti, with whom he began his first collaboration. The famous designer became his teacher and mentor. Frattini founded his own design agency following his observations that the choice of lighting and furniture was too limited for him. He soon began working with Cassina, then Knoll, Artemide, Bernini and Fantoni. In 1956, together with several other designers, he founded the Association pour le Dessin Industriel. At the same time, he took part in several events, congresses and exhibitions. His projects have won numerous awards.
