Tjerk REIJENGA

A little-known yet avant-garde Dutch designer, he left his mark on design with highly innovative storage solutions. In the 50s, he designed coat racks, shelves and bookcases for the Pilastro company. His pieces are skilfully constructed in metal in a minimalist, industrial yet colorful spirit. Among his best-known designs is the Toonladder collection of coat racks. Biography Tjerk Reijenga began his design career at Pilastro in the 50s and 60s, where he worked alongside such Dutch design greats as Friso Kramer, Coen de Vries and D. van Sliedregt. Today, he is a world-renowned architect specializing in sustainable development and solar panels. He is an active member of the BNA (Dutch Architects Association), and the ISES (International Solar Energy Society). His architectural practice is called BEAR-iD, with offices in the Netherlands and China. He moved to Shanghai in 2008. His philosophy is to use exclusively renewable materials in all his buildings.
