Tjerk Reijenga is a Dutch designer and architect, specialised in sustainable development. He became very famous in design for his minimalist and fonctionna shelving system called "Pilastro".
This dutch designer is not recognized as he should be. In fact, he has truly marked the design period of the 50s thanks to his innovative storage system. He has designed many coat racks, shelving systems, book shelves produced by Pilastro, a dutch company from the 50s. Biographie Most of his creations have been skilfully constructed in metal, in a minimalist and industrial spirit but also colorful. Among his most famous model, we found the "Toonlader" coat rack. Tjerk Reijenga began his career in the design in the Pilastro company, where he worked between the 50s and the 60s with other big names of the Dutch design world such as Friso Kramer, Coen de Vries and D. van Sliedregt. Today, he is a world-known architect specialised in sustainable development and solar panels. He is an active member of the BNA (Dutch Architects Association) and of the ISES (International Solar Energy Society. His architecture firm is settled in the Netherlands and China. He lives in Shanghai since 2008. His philosophy is to always try to use sustainable materials in each of his constructions.
